RAD Chief Executive, Luke Rittner, is to receive a CBE.
We are all very proud at the news that the Academy's chief executive has been made a CBE for services to the Arts, particularly Dance, in the New Year's Honours list 2017.
Luke Rittner took up his appointment as Chief Executive of the Academy on 1 September 1999. He was Secretary General of the Arts Council of Great Britain (1983–1990), Communications Director for Sotheby’s Europe (1992–1998) and in previous years, has run the Bath Festival.
Luke has served on many arts boards, including the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the British Council, and will be stepping down as Chairman of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in early 2017 after 23 years of service. He holds an Honorary Doctorate of the Arts from the University of Bath and an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Law from the University of Durham.
Of this latest honour, Luke said: "I am delighted and very honoured both for myself and for dance."
