Step into Dance
Step into Dance is a partnership project between the Jack Petchey Foundation and the RAD. It is the biggest secondary school dance programme in the UK and is unique in offering training and performance opportunities throughout the academic year.
All schools involved pay a small fee toward the running costs of the programme. From a pilot of 28, it is now delivered in 200 schools throughout London and Essex - including Special Educational Needs schools and Pupil Referral Units.
Through Step into Battle, Step Together, the Step into Dance Spring Sharings and our showcase end of the year event, Step LIVE!, Step into Dance is responsible for creating over 25 unique, inclusive performance opportunities each year.
We recruit some of the most talented dancers on the programme to be a part of the jazz, street, contemporary and inclusive companies. The four Step into Dance Youth Companies rehearse weekly at the RAD. The dancers receive a high level of training from our professional teachers and perform at prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Piccadilly Theatre and Sadler’s Wells.
