Introduction

Introduction
RAD bursaries, scholarships and competitions provide opportunities for young people to gain performance experience and to further their study and training.

The Genée International Ballet Competition is the RAD's best-known and most prestigious competition.

As of 2017, there are two bursary schemes to which Genée candidates from any country can apply. Each supports the cost of participating in the competition, a contribution towards travel costs and a contribution towards other costs related to competing:

The Phyllis Bedells Bursary is probably the most recognisable of our grants. This bursary is awarded to young dancers under 17 years of age who have passed the RAD Intermediate and Advanced 1 exams (Advanced 1 with Distinction) but have not entered for the Advanced 2 exam.

Application forms and dates can be found on each individual bursary page on the left.

We award scholarships every year at our Summer School events, as well as scholarships linked to regional activities

The Royal Academy of Dance is always looking to create more opportunities for young dancers around the world.

Any updates in information on bursaries, scholarships and hardship funds will feature on this page.
