Library Services & Information
Enquiries and Research If you are unable to visit the library in person, library staff may be able to undertake research on your behalf. This service includes help and advice for general reference or information enquiries, literature searches, photocopying and forwarding copies of journal articles or other printed material, in accordance with copyright regulations. Brief reference or stock enquiries do not incur a charge. More extensive research (exceeding 30 minutes) will be charged for at the following hourly rates: Students £10.00 Individuals engaged in private research £15.00 Commercial Users £30.00 Doing your own research One of the most important internet tools available for dance research is ‘CATNYP’ - the online Catalogue of the New York Public Library (NYPL). This is a particularly useful resource, as not only does it contain records of traditional print materials similar to those housed here at the RAD Library, but it also serves as an index to the contents of a wide range of international dance periodicals. We have compiled a user guide to help you get the most from this resource, and it’s available to view/download here. Please note that while your search results may include many interesting references for video, photographs and press clippings, these are only likely to be accessible at the NYPL itself. However, many of the books and journal articles will be available here at the RAD library or could possibly be accessed through your local library services.
