The Royal Academy of Dance offers a wide range of courses, classes and workshops for young people
The Royal Academy of Dance is proud to announce that our flagship event, the Genée International Ballet Competition will be held in 2013 for the first time in Glasgow, from 20 - 29 September. The RAD will be working in partnership with Scottish Ballet and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to stage a very exciting competition.
Luke Rittner, RAD Chief Executive said: "In September 2013 the eyes of the dance world will be turned towards the great city of Glasgow as it hosts for the first time ever the Genée International Ballet Competition staged by the Academy in association with Scottish Ballet and the Royal Scottish Conservatoire and with the enthusiastic support of the City of Glasgow. I know that all our UK Members will welcome the return of the Genée to our shores after three years and I also know that our Scottish Members, with the support of their English, Welsh and Irish colleagues will embrace, support and welcome their first ever Genée with the enthusiasm and warmth for which their country is renowned around the world."
Scottish Ballet has already announced this partnership at a press conference last week - a confirmation of their firm commitment to making the 2013 Genée a very special event. Christopher Hampson, the new Artistic Director of Scottish Ballet has of course made a long-standing contribution to the Genée over the last nine years and is personally very enthusiastic about the collaboration.
