Eligibility criteria:
• IDTA Associate or above in Ballet, Modern, Tap or Theatre Craft
If you also have RAD Advanced 1 upwards, the Student Teaching Certificate, Benesh Intermediate Solo or higher, you are eligible to become a teacher recognised by mutual agreement and Full Member, this means that you will get all the benefits of a teacher recognised by mutual agreement, plus the benefits of full membership.

The responsibilities of a teacher recognised by mutual agreement are:
• To uphold standards of good practice
• To uphold the Code of Conduct and Professional Practice for teachers registered with the Royal Academy of Dance
• To maintain the Academy's artistic and professional standards
• To hold membership of the Academy
Continuing Professional Development
RAD Continuing Professional Development (CPD) gives you the opportunity to develop your creative, teaching and business skills. By participating in CPD you will be able to demonstrate that that you are up-to-date with current ideas on teaching, your commitment to the dance profession and help your students reach their full potential. From 1 July 2013 it will be compulsory for teachers registered with the RAD to engage in CPD, in order to retain their teacher status. Find out more...
The RAD recommends:
As best practice, the RAD recommends that its teachers apply for an Enhanced Disclosure (or equivalent) with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Disclosure Scotland or other equivalent international body every three years.
