Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Award
The Royal Academy of Dance offers a wide range of courses, classes and workshops for young people
The Academy’s most prestigious award presented in recognition of outstanding services to the art of ballet. It was established in 1953 by Dame Adeline Genée and it has been presented to, among others, Sir Frederick Ashton, Dame Marie Rambert DBE, Dame Ninette de Valois DBE, Gillian Lynne CBE, Alexander Grant CBE, Sir Peter Wright CBE, Victor and Lilian Hochhauser, Rachel Cameron and last year Dame Monica Mason DBE.
On 26 April 2012 Dame Antoinette Sibley, the Academy's outgoing President, received this ambitious award from the RAD's Chairman of the Board of Trustees Kerry Rubie in appreciation of her lifetime contribution to dance.
