Helping the Academy

Sponsorship

The Royal Academy of Dance both promotes and supports  education and training for young people teacher training, personal development and achievement and contributes to the global dance community. We can offer a tailored sponsorship package for an existing or new activity to suit your company goals and ideals.

Some of our past and current partners have been Barclays Bank Plc, Bloch International, International Dance Supplies, Bank of South East Asia, Freed of London, and Coppelia.

For information on sponsorship please either write to the Head of Marketing Communications and Membership, Royal Academy of Dance, 36 Battersea Square, London SW11 3RA; email marketing@rad.org.uk or telephone +44 (0)20 7326 8003.

Donations

Donations can be made at any time to the Academy. You can choose to give a donation for general use or instead direct it to a more specific need of the Academy. Donations can be made through ' Gift Aid ' if you are a regular UK taxpayer or through regular payroll giving. The Academy is registered with the ' Give as you earn ' scheme, a government initiative, and you can log on to www.giveasyouearn.org and select the Royal Academy of Dance as your chosen charity.

If you wish to make either  a general donation or a donation to be used for a specific reason please either write to the Director of Finance, Royal Academy of Dance, 36 Battersea Square, London SW11 3RA,  email finance@rad.org.uk or telephone +44 (0)20 7326 8000 and ask to be put through to the Director of Finance.

Gift Aid donations can be made over the phone. You can do this by telephoning the Finance Department on +44 (0)20 7326 8015/8016/8017.

Bequest or Legacy

Leaving a legacy is a very personal act. You can choose to leave your gift for general use or instead direct it to a more specific need of the Academy. Leaving a legacy to the Royal Academy of Dance could literally give a child the chance to dance or help us to continue to train teachers who are an inspiration to so many. If you can support us in any way surely that is a legacy worth leaving?

There are three ways in which you can leave a legacy or bequest to the Royal Academy of Dance.

A Pecuniary Legacy
This means that you will leave the Academy a specified sum in your will. Pecuniary legacies can be affected by inflation, so the amount you leave may not be worth as much in the future as when the will is written.

A Residuary Legacy
This is where, after remembering relatives and friends with any specific gifts, you may want to leave some or the entire residue to the Academy.

A Specific Legacy
This refers to a specific item such as books or photographs being left to the Academy.
We advise that you should always speak to your solicitor on the most advantageous way to make a bequest or legacy, and on how to draw up or adapt a will.

Fund Administration

The Royal Academy of Dance administers a number of funds that are restricted in purpose. Some of these are listed in the Academy’s Annual Report. These funds have come from a number of sources, among them legacies and bequests, as well as specific events that have been held to raise funds for specific funds.

All funds are administered in agreement with the conditions laid down in the bequest, legacy or event and are accounted for  in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice for Charities 2005, and any conditions laid down by the Charities Commission.

Funds are invested in accordance with the wishes of the bequest or legacy or in accordance with the Trustees of the Academy.
