Accreditation of Qualifications

The Royal Academy of Dance is an awarding body recognised by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) in England, the Department for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in Wales and the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA) in Northern Ireland.

QCA, DCELLS and CCEA have accredited the Academy’s Graded and Vocational Graded Examinations. This accreditation places these qualifications on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This Framework includes qualifications in all fields of study.  It places dance examinations within the context of other qualifications, and recognises equivalence in levels of knowledge, skills and understanding required for their attainment. It does not, necessarily mean that dance examinations will be interchangeable with national school examinations at the same level when applying for college or university as each case is judged individually and will be at the discretion of the receiving institution.

The framework consists of nine levels and the Academy’s Graded and Vocational Graded qualifications are accredited at levels 1, 2 and 3 as follows:
