Sunday, 24 July 2005

The President’s Award is given to an individual who has for many years dedicated themselves over and above the call of duty to the Royal Academy of Dance. The President's Award is always a particularly poignant award to receive as recipient's are nominated by their fellow Members and colleagues.

This year Angela Redgrave received the award, joined by her family whilst attending a special Teachers Course for the furthcoming Fonteyn Nureyev Young Dancers Competition.

Angela Redgrave, was nominated by her contemporaries for her outstanding committment to the Academy and to dance and for her unfaltering enthusiasm and energy.

Angela's response was one of sheer surprise and delight:

"I was absolutely thrilled and dumb-founded, it was such a surprise to receive this honour, from my colleagues and the Academy, and for doing something that I am passionate about"
