genée Competition Winners Announced

An international audience was stunned last night (6 June, 2004) at the Herod Atticus Odeon in Athens by the superb performances of the 14 Finalists competing in the Genée International Ballet Competition. Staged by the Royal Academy of Dance, under the auspices of the Cultural Olympiad, Greece 2004, a spectacular Gala final, culminated in the performance of a lifetime by Alexander Jones from England and Ayako Ono from Japan, which earned them a coveted and rarely awarded Gold medal.

Young Dancers battle it out for bedells bursary - there could be only one

Out of the 34 young hopefuls, 16-year old Antoinette Brooks-Daw from Great Britain rose to the challenge of dancing in front of an international audience managing to impress the three judges, who admitted to finding their task extremely difficult.

First Ever Professional Graduate Certificate In Dance Teaching
that specialises in 14 to 19 age range

In September 2003 the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) will offer the first ever post graduate programme in dance teaching with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) specialising in teaching students of the 14 to 19 age range. Recruitment to the programme will start immediately.

Genée International Ballet Competition Thrills Birmingham Audience

The ballet world gathered at the Birmingham Hippodrome last night and was riveted by the stunning performances of 12 young finalists in the RAD’s Bloch Genée International Ballet Competition 2003. After a dramatic evening of superlative and thrilling dancing the panel of Judges, including Dame Antoinette Sibley DBE, David Bintley CBE & Monica Mason CBE had the unenviable task of deciding on the medallists.

Birmingham to Host International Ballet Competition

The Genée International Ballet Competition presented by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is to be staged for the first time in Birmingham from 20-28 September 2003 in association with Birmingham Royal Ballet. The annual competition is one of the world’s most prestigious and represents the pinnacle of achievement for young dancers trained in the RAD’s syllabus and on the verge of their careers.
