Child Protection

The Royal Academy of Dance is committed to creating an environment that enables children and young people to learn and develop in a safe, understanding and encouraging environment. The Academy has drawn up this policy in order to meet the requirements of:-
The Children Act 1989, The Human Rights Act 1998, The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Ratified by the UK Govt in 1991), The Protection of Children Act 1999, The Criminal Justice & Court Services Act 2000 and The Children Act 2004

Data Protection

The Royal Academy of Dance aims to comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1984, the Data Protection Act 1998 (and subsequent legislation including the Police Act 1997, the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998, the Crime and Disorder Act 1998, The Human Rights Act 1998, The Registration of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, and the Freedom of Information Act 2000)

Health and Safety

The Royal Academy of Dance has a responsibility to ensure the Health and Safety of all its employees while at work.  The Royal Academy of Dance, through management at all levels, will provide, as far as is reasonably practical, a working environment that is safe and with minimum risk to employees, students, visitors and members of the public.  The Royal Academy of Dance will fulfill its responsibilities by taking steps to work in accordance with the relevant Health and Safety legislation, published Approved Code of Practice and good working practices.

Smoking

Smoking in public and work places becomes prohibited in law from 1st July 2007. The RAD has a Smoking policy which is intended to protect everyone against the effects of passive smoking, to promote health in the workplace and to support those who smoke.
